The Hawai‘i Agricultural Foundation invites K–12 students statewide to participate in the 2026 Localicious® Art & Recipe Contest. Presented by Hawai‘i Gas, it’s a creative opportunity to reimagine school lunch while celebrating Hawai‘i’s local food system.
Students are encouraged to showcase a favorite family or cultural dish inspired by the theme, My Localicious® School Lunch Plate, that features at least one locally grown, raised, or caught Hawai‘i ingredient. Through art and recipe creation, students learn about local agriculture, food systems, and the people who grow our food—while helping support the future of school meals in Hawai‘i.
Art Contest (Grades K–8)
Students create an original poster illustrating a lunch they would like to see served at school. Winners will be selected in three grade categories (K–3, 4–6,7–8) in every County and receive a $200 gift card, with artwork transformed into a chef-created recipe and featured in the 2027 Localicious® Calendar.
Recipe Contest (Grades 9–12)
High school students submit an original main-dish recipe inspired by the contest theme. A culinary professional will select the top three finalists, who will compete in a live Localicious® Recipe Contest Cook-off. Prizes: 1st Place- $500, 2nd Place - $300, 3rd Place - $200. The winning recipe has the potential to be served to more than 100,000 students statewide.
Entry Deadline: March 2, 2026
