Grant Applications Open for Ag Industry Impacted by Kona Low Storms

The Hawaiʻi Agricultural Foundation and Hawaiʻi Farm Bureau (HFB) are now accepting applications for the Hawaiʻi Farmers Disaster Relief Fund, which will provide financial assistance to farmers, ranchers, fishers, and agricultural businesses impacted by the 2026 Kona Low storms.

The fund was established in response to widespread storm damage that affected agricultural operations across the state. Early assessments estimated more than $7 million in agricultural losses and over 1,000 acres of farmland impacted. While recovery efforts continue, many producers are still facing significant unmet needs.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our community, more than $350,000 has been raised to help support agricultural recovery and ensure local producers can continue feeding Hawaiʻi's communities.

Grant awards ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 are available to help address unmet disaster-related recovery needs, including crop recovery and replanting, livestock replacement, infrastructure and irrigation repairs, equipment replacement, debris removal, green house repairs, soil restoration, and other eligible recovery expenses.

Applications will be reviewed by HAF and HFB to help ensure funds are distributed fairly and directed to agricultural producers with the greatest recovery needs.

Eligible agricultural producers are encouraged to apply by Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. HST.
