Kahumana

Kahumana’s mission is to co-create a healthy, inclusive, and productive farm-based community with homeless families, people with disabilities, and youth.

It’s mission-driven work is grounded in the values of:

Founded in 1974, Kahumana began as a community of individuals seeking an alternative approach to creating a holistic world. Over the years, it has expanded to encompass five distinct campuses spread across more than 50 acres in the picturesque Lualualei Valley on the sunny west side of O’ahu.

Kahumana is a vibrant mix of folks from all walks of life: farmers, social workers, entrepreneurs, those finding their feet after homelessness, tourists, locals, young ones, and folks with disabilities. Together, they’re on a mission to honor Hawaii’s beautiful natural and cultural heritage while tackling some of its toughest challenges.

At Kahumana, it’s all about balance and harmony – mind, body, spirit, and community all play a part in health and healing. They measure success not just by numbers, but by the social, financial, and environmental impact, with a special focus on the spiritual side of things. You can feel it in the air with the diverse religious and spiritual traditions they celebrate.

In essence, Kahumana is a vibrant, inclusive community dedicated to holistic living and healing, driven by core values of mindfulness, empathy, and collaboration.
