Kahumana Organic Farms is a pioneering nonprofit rooted in Waianae’s Lualualei Valley, operating a certified organic, regenerative 31-acre farm that produces around 100,000 pounds of fresh local produce each year. Guided by core values of Mindfulness (Maka‘ala), Empathy (Aloha), and Working Together (Lokahi), Kahumana’s mission is to co-create a healthy, inclusive, and productive farm-based community that supports families transitioning from homelessness, people with developmental disabilities, and youth. As one of Hawai‘i’s largest food hubs, they also aggregate produce from Leeward Coast growers, distribute to local markets and restaurants, and support food sovereignty across the island. You can find their fresh, certified organic produce at the Kaka‘ako Farmers Market on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, alongside their presence at the Wā‘ianae market. In all that they do—whether from the fields to the café, through housing initiatives, or community outreach—Kahumana blends sustainable agriculture with deep social healing and renewal.
