Max Towey, the beekeeper behind Meli LLC, has been stewarding locally sourced Oʻahu honey, honeycombs, and handmade candles since founding his company in Kailua. Dedicated to sustainable beekeeping, Max captures the unique flavors of the island’s seasonal blossoms while also creating beeswax goods that showcase the artistry of working with pollinators. He brings the buzz—literally—to his community every Thursday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Kailua Farmers’ Market in front of Longs at Kailua Town Center, where he sometimes sets up an observation hive for customers to watch live honeybees at work. Through Meli LLC, and as part of the Hawai‘i beekeeping community, Max offers a hands-on connection to pollinators, inviting both locals and visitors to experience the sweetness and sustainability of Oʻahu’s own honey.
