Education Impact

HAF’s K-12 education programs play an important part in planting the seeds of interest in our keiki to choose an ag-related career, needed to help increase local food production and safeguard the sustainability of our islands. Beginning in elementary school, students learn about plant life cycles beginning from seeds to growing and harvesting vegetables. At the upper elementary level and through middle school, students are introduced to other methods of farming such as aquaponics. At the high school level, HAF programs offer students the opportunity to gain real-world working experiences through internship programs with local ag-based businesses.
